A joint meeting of the UCLH Head and Neck Centre to celebrate its 10th anniversary and the 7th annual meeting of the Head & Neck Optical Diagnostics and Intervention Society was held at the Royal College of Surgeons of England on Friday 24th July. The meeting attracted over 200 attendees to the two meetings.
The 10th anniversary celebrations were marked by a series of presentations on all aspects of work developed by current and former UCLH staff. In parallel with this was the HNODIS meeting where there were over 20 presentations and invited lectures as well as an industry interface meeting to look at commercialisation of optical diagnostic technologies.
Towards the end of the day, the two groups came together to listen to Prof Valerie Lund and Mr Peter Clarke giving an overview of olfactory neuroblastomas followed by Dr Alexander Vahrmeijer and Dr Jason Warram discussing image guided tumour resections and then Dr Martin Forster talking on new strategies in cancer treatment. Then followed the keynote lecture by Prof Susan Standring, editor of Gray’s Anatomy, who entertained the audience with a short history of anatomy.
The evening concluded with a reception in the Hunterian Museum followed by dinner at the College.
